Eliminating Forklift Risk with the edp Australia Bin Destacker
When a client came to edp Australia with a serious workplace safety concern, we got to work. Operators were pushing bin lines with a forklift in the same area as other workers, a dangerous practice that couldn’t continue.
Our solution was the edp Bin Destacker, an automated empty bin line that removes the forklift from the equation entirely.
Empty bins are loaded two by three high and automatically destacked one at a time, filling the line bin by bin. At the client’s request, the line sits as close to the concrete floor as possible, with an angled plate at the base for a smooth transition when pulling bins off. Positioned alongside the Tomra grader, operators can safely pull a bin off and slide it under for fruit filling — no forklift needed.
A continuous drive roller keeps bins moving smoothly, while individual bin zones prevent contact and collisions. When a bin is removed, the remaining bins advance automatically. An emergency stop lanyard runs the full length of the line for added peace of mind, and the entire system is fully wired, installed, and electrically compliant. Line length is fully customisable to suit any facility.
The result: a smarter, safer operation and a forklift that stays where it belongs.
